School choices in Ham – by PP

They went to the nursery and they went to what was called Oakfield School then. It is now part of the comprehensive, Grey Court, but it was just a little local school, a primary school. And then they went up to the second half of the primary school. They were moved up when they were seven and a half. They went to Orchard School which is now called the Russell School and that was a very good school. Then two of the boys went to Rivermead– the eldest two – which was new then. It was supposed to be going to be really good and they didn’t want to have girls. They wanted to go to a boys’ school so they went to a boys’ school. It turned out to be a very shoddy school indeed
