Oakfield School next to Grey Court – by TH

It was next to Grey Court school, Mrs Pegram was the headmistress to the, you know, I suppose, the nursery school and it was in that large house which still stands.  It’s been converted now into something else and it was lovely there and then went to infants’ school which I had a few weeks, my brothers went there as well, I do believe,  which was the Catholic Church on Ham Common, you know , and then, of course, St Richards got built  and so I was there the very first day along with everyone else and my middle brother Simon and, , then carried on to Rivermead which is now the Tiffin Girls’ School but it was an all boys school and so the girls took that over (laughter) so there you are, yes.
