Alter boy at St Richard’s – by TH

Cos my parents were quite religious, being born on Easter Sunday, I had no chance and I was an altar boy and, you know, at St Richards Church and all that sort of thing, until I was about 15, 16 whatever and they used to let my friends and I, cos we formed a band, and were trying to write our own stuff and we made a helluva din.  I always remember the committee getting together and saying  “well I don’t know if it’s a good thing  or a bad thing” and I think my father swayed them into, cos he contributed a lot towards the church, that it was far better that we knew where the boys were than roaming the streets and then we they used to have an old sort of like a variety show which was put on by church members and that in St Richards School Hall and we went on into the intermission and played one of our songs which was an epic 7, 8 minutes long and it went down very well.
