There at the opening of St Richard’s – by JB

I’ve been at St Richards – first started worshipping at St Richards, not on a regular basis because the family were younger and it wasn’t quite as easy but whilst it was being built there was a hut built and we used to use the hut for worship and the workmen’s hut was used for Sunday school – that’s how I came to go to St Richards.  My son was going to Sunday school at what is now St Thomas Aquinas which was the old St Andrews school, and that was run from the sisters from the convent so I used to take him down there every Sunday and then the sisters from the convent when St Richards was being built thought that it was silly to have two Sunday schools so they brought the other Sunday school down to St Richards, so that was when I moved to St Richards.

So that was whilst it was being built and then I bought my guide company down to Ham and then I was in the original guard of honour for the first service the dedication and the opening of St Richards church, horrible pictures now but there are still some there, so have been going – I used to go as often as I could and now go every week, well twice a week normally.  Just been part and parcel of the church, lots of things have changed in there.
