Memories of teachers at St Andrew’s – by KS

Ham really was a village so there wasn’t that many children but I remember our teacher’s name, Miss Herbert and she was one of the loveliest ladies I have ever met and when my mum had a disagreement with.., it was the next class up and her name was Miss Ayres and that’s as far as I got.  The Headmaster was Mr Gomm and he used to live opposite, number…, I can’t remember the number (7).  It was quite a distinctive house and we used to have National days and if the flag, and I’m not sure whether it was the Union Jack or not, came into our classroom it meant we could go home early
