Loving the prefabs – by EB

Yes, everyone loved their prefabs, I found out two other people who I spoke to recently they did get damp and cold and although they were loved they had a fifty year life span and they had to come down.  They covered the whole area, all in rows and also down in Hardwicke Road as well.  As you walk across the footpath to go to Teddington you go down what we call Nurse Gregory’s Alley, the first bit because Nurse Gregory lived on that corner, but that’s another story, as you go down the first part of the alley you come to Hardwicke Road, but you have to step across, that’s where the prefabs were, it’s now a block of flats.  All that area was prefabs.  I used to deliver the evening papers there after school.
