Ham House – Events

Ham house is our local stately home. It was built in 1610 and is best surviving example of Stuart domestic architecture in Britain.

1891 May 22ndRichard Wagner Concert

1903 (?) – British Homeopathic Association – function held to promote awareness of this newly formed Association

1908 – Empire Day – the Earl of Dysart invited all the village school children with their parents to tea at Ham House

1929 – Garden Fete – in aid of the Ham Church Parochial Funds and Parish Hall

1930 – Garden Fete – in Aid of the Jubilee Funds of the Church of England Waifs and Strays Society

1930s – Open House – guided tours by volunteers around the ground floor and state rooms on the 1st floor now available on payment of a fee

1931 – Fete and Masque – in aid of the Royal Hospital Fund in Richmond

1932 – Garden Fete and XV11 Century Masque Ball – in aid of the National Library for the Blind. Featured an exhibition of lawn tennis, a fun fair and stalls and Fortune Telling. The grounds were illuminated for dancing in the evening

1935 – Grand Fete to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of George V – and held in aid of the Church Funds

1958 – Music To Remember – BBC Home Service Broadcast. The London Wind Players conducted by Harry Belch played in the Great Hall

1972 onwards -Annual Season of Concerts

1981, 1983 & 1984 – Opera Italiana – Musical programmes featuring works by various composers as part of the Richmond Festival

1987 The Oldest Alliance – evening of words and music sponsored by NOVAL 600 and The Anglo -Portuguese Foundati

1988Heritage in Flowers – a festival held at Ham House to celebrate tercentenary of William & Mary

1998 – Recreation of the CIVIL WAR by local school children
